Thanks for the link, Shneor. Despite never gaining a foothold in the
professional astronomical community, Burbidge was one of a few
iconoclasts (along with Halton Arp and a couple of others) that argued
against the big bang and cosmological redshifts, presenting evidence
(until his death) that quasars are young objects ejected from active
galaxies.
