Re: Bushnell NorthStar telescope for astrological use

I have a Bushnell NorthStar 80mm refractor that I bought used as a lightweight grab-and-go scope.

The optics are actually really good for the price and the push-to mount quite accurate.

With it I've been able to glimpse Jupiter's stripes at 250x, and detected M101, M81, M82, and the hole in M57 even through suburban east bay light pollution. Limiting magnitude at zenith at 2mm exit pupil is around 12.1 (again - through east bay light pollution and of course my poor eyesight).

My only complaints are lack of slow motion controls on the mount and not a 2" focuser.
