Re: Double shadow transit happening on Jupiter (12:30)

I watched from about 10 pm on.

At 10 pm, Europa WAS transiting (per starry nights) but I could not
see it.

I could see Gannymede itself and Europa's shadow - so close together I
wasn't sure there were two dots, but over time they separated and I
could clearly see two BLACK dots.
Gannymede's larger shadow showed up just on time at about 11:45 (all
per Starry Nights). At that point I could see Gannymede itself,
Europa's shadow, and Gannymede's shadow - all on the face and all
exactly where they should be per Starry Nights. Io was clearly
visible off one side and Europa clearly visible off the other.

My only question is this: Gannymede itself appeared to me as a black
dot, but it seems like it should have been sunlit and not visible
(blend with Jupiter) or possibly showing brighter than Jupiter - but
it was a black dot throughout two hours of observation.....why??
