Hi TACOs,

I'm selling my favorite scope of all time -- a 17-1/2" f/4.5 built by Albert Highe. Most of you are probably aware of Albert's three parallel strut design that inspired the Plettstone line of scopes that many TACos enjoy. Technically, this is a Mark III that Albert sold under the name of Lightware Telescope Designs. As Albert's former personal scope, it incorporates several unique features; for example, the three strut diameters are different, allowing them to nest during storage and transport.

This scope is an excellent performer. For example, this is the scope he used to observe some exceptionally faint members of galaxy clusters -- undoubtedly, some objects had never been observed before (or since) by an amateur. For more on these observations, see the TAC archives or Albert's webpage http://pw2.netcom.com/~ahighe/home.htm

Given its rich TAC history and unique design, I would love to see this scope remain in a TACO's hands. Before posting it on Astromart, the scope is available at a discount to local TACOs -- just in time for Calstar.

Please contact me off-list for more information (specifications, pictures, etc.), for a look-see, or whatever. (By the way, my reason for selling: I have bought a new favorite scope: Albert's personal 16", with tracking and GOTO.)

Bob J.
