Hello TACos,

I'm almost all packed up for an adventure with my family, camping at
Morningstar Lake outside of Foresthill, CA, for the 4th of July weekend.
Best I can tell this will be a "Blue" area on the LP map. The other family
we're going with has asked me to bring along my telescopes so that I can
enjoy some really dark skies (they frequent the campground about every other
year). "Blue" LP zone, decent weather forecasted (<10% cloud cover), 4000
ft elevation all promise to make for a good trip...I'll just have to avoid
drinking too much at dinner. :-)

I'm a little concerned about where to setup, but I'll be bringing everything
for some visual observations (no AP this trip!) and will figure something
out.

If anyone knows the area and if there's a good spot around the campgrounds
to setup (I'll be asking the Rangers) I'll be checking e-mail until the
morning. I'm pretty excited, these skies should be darker than my trip
during the Messier Marathon to Cobb Moutain in Lake County...just hope the
jet stream isn't flying overhead so the seeing will be good (CSC for
Foresthill and Blue Canyon both look promising!).

Wish me luck, and I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe 4th of July.

Clear Skies,

Jim
