Hi Dave,
Just got started planning this adventure.
Trying to decide right now where to go observing (Coonabarabran vs Magellan Observatory) and whether to try to coordinate with expert observer's in Australia so I don't have to bring equipment and also benefit from their experience and expertise or just do it on my own and rent a scope at either of those two sites. You might want to monitor the Obsession yahoo user's group for all the recent post between myself and various Australian observer's.
Love to have you join us. Would be great if we could put together a small Bay Area group of observer's to do the trip.
New Moon in October is the 19th and I imagined a two week trip with at least 7 nights observing and the other time for
seeing some points of
interest in
Australia. Seven nights observing would probably be about the minimum amount to allow for maybe a couple of nights of cloudy weather. Will keep you posted as I gather more information.

I'd like to go too. How many nights?
Let me know as you start planning the details of the trip.
