Good points John. I didn't know zooms had a narrower FOV. I have nothing to
donate, no extra stuff.

We can watch the Craigslist add and see if someone else comes through. If
not??

I'd suggest a NON zoom 60mm scope with 20 or 25x... you get a wider FOV
and better contrast. a horizontal eyepiece is fine if the
tripod/mount is tall enough, its easier to aim the scope at a distant target
when you're looking in the same direction.

that said, I just poked around for one like my old one (a orion/chinese
typical 60mm bird scope) and can't find any that aren't zoom :-/
