Decided to do a little science experiment to break up my 4-day visual
observing routine.
On the flickr page Richard posted (also below) you can see two 6 degree
FOV areas that are some objects way up high on my list of kool areas
down south. These are Canon 40D 200mm prime focus shots using an
autoguider. I was right next to Rogelio and I guess the influence was
strong enough so I 'just had to try it'.

One is the M24 star cloud with the Swan Nebula to one side. One of my
favorite open clusters is Ngc6603 and although not resolved here it
hints at it's fine blanket of stars and the brighter row of stars that
cuts it in half. Also I enjoy the dark nebula B92 and B93. Ok, I
enjoy just wandering about in M24 in general.

The second picture is a slew of dark nebula in lower Ophiuchus with the
highlight (IMHO) being the snake nebula (B72) and the three 'dots' of
B68,69,70. There are gobs of dark nebula in this area so it was just
for a bit of 'dark fun'.

I had tried all this stuff in my back yard last week but still was glad
that when I got stuck at one point I could just walk 20 feet to ask my
question to an expert and Rogelio was of course able to give a quick
reply, thanks.

I'll post separately to cover the 4 nights of observing, 3 days of which
were at GSSP on Sun, Mon, Tue and Sat at Plettstone.
