Maybe someone's suggested this already, but...
Why not just take out the space in the phrase `micro film'?
If it were possible to find a microfilm or microfiche copy of an
astronomical publication, and put that under the objective of the
microscope, maybe the problem would be solved.
Main issues that I can see:
1) You would presumably need to cut out a little teeny weeny portion of the
microfilm or microfiche, so that you didn't have the whole roll or sheet
visible. This would mean you'd need something that's being discarded from a
library, I guess.
2) The photo quality can be fairly poor, real contrasty, etc...
But, it might be interesting to experiment with.
I was recently looking through some microfilms and I've decided that
microfilm is cool on cool. It's cool in the way old HP RPN calculators are.
I feel like pulling out my HP-15C and doing some calculations while looking
at an old issue of S&T or Science on microfilm. It's a nice break from our
hectic Internet world.
