So far so good here in Bear Valley. The people down near 49 have been
given a pre-evacuation notice but those of us just up the road from
there have been told nothing.

They keep bombing the ridge east of us with retardant. We watched it
yesterday.... it was amazing. Every 5 minutes or so all along the
ridge. And most importantly, several dozen drops down near the Merced
River so it can't come round the mountain.

Right now, the air is filled with choking smoke here and it is painful
to go outside.
