The fire near Plettstone

Many of you have asked and I thought it easier to just post to the group.

We are on the list for endangered structures in the area for the
Telegraph fire. The tankers have been dropping retardant on the hills
immediately to the east of us all day yesterday and have just resumed
that effort.

We are not overly concerned that it will break through into Bear
Valley. They seem to have it contained at least along that ridge of
hills if no where else.

As of midnight last night, the fire has consumed 16,000 acres and
continues to burn uncontrolled. The fire is threatening the town of
Mariposa to the south. The rumor mill says that the fire has leaped
Mount Bullion and I suspect that is the reason for increased air
tanker activity within the past hour here.

We have fire crews and machines from all over California now.

Paul and I are not yet worried. We are prepared to leave if we must
but don't anticipate that we will need to. We have been getting ready
for any possibility (including power outages that seem to be plaguing
us) just in case.

We are fine. We can easily get out if we need to. I will keep the
group updated if conditions change. We are still on for the star
party and BBQ for Saturday evening. If I do NOT post to the group on
Wednesday, it is canceled.

Michelle
