Hi all

Because IDA members do not keep up contact information very well I am using this group in hopes of
contacting additional IDA members in San Francisco.

I have been asked if I can find a IDA representative to participate in a stakeholder committee
associated with SF Commission on the Environment and committee apparently promoted/requested by
Lights Out San Francisco and American Bird Conservancy.

As I am told "The goal of the program is to reduce unnecessary night lighting in the city of San
Francisco to reduce the threat of nighttime collisions with buildings for migratory birds,
conserve resources, save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and ultimately increase
visibility of the night sky."

This is VERY early in the process of forming the stakeholder committee.

Sounds like something a Astronomer/Astronomy Clubs could/should support. Fact is every person
in Northern California who looks into the night sky is a stakeholder.

This is a chance to make a difference, what is done in San Francisco will have a positive effect
on the night sky over North Easter California.
If you think not, just look at Night Sky Quality Monitoring at Lassen Volcanic NP, California see
http://www.skykeepers.org/nnp.html for a link.

If you are interested please contact me.

If you would like to get more involved in Norther California activities please join the Cal-IDA
