Driving across the great American SW desert with you was truly an enlightening experience.
Not much about flora, fauna and geographical items of interest that you don't know.

Elevation at Lava Beds ranges from 4000' to 5700' above sea level. The area around the lava tubes themselves is hilly, with Pinyon Pine and juniper, which are typical Great Basin Desert vegetation. I've been to Lava Beds. You have to drive up a bit to get there from
Klamath. I recall looking at views down into the valley, the valley so low. Maybe
1000 feet or so. Just guessing.
