I observed last August at Lee Hoglan/Robert Caton's partially
completed DARC Observatory which is at Panoche Hills (http://
darcobservatory.org/
for partially complete web site) just across from Mercy Hot
Springs. They are building quite a set-up. I didn't explore the
surrounding area but it appeared undeveloped, hilly and very
exposed. This is on the west side of the Diablo range, by the way,
so may get some dust and haze from the central valley. You might
want to contact them directly for specific info about the area.
