Well, my offroading friend in Bishop says the road up there is very
steep, has some sandy sections, and a number of river crossings, only a
high ground clearance vehicle should even attempt it, preferably a 4x4
he also says it can snow almost any time of year. Suggests correlating
WX forecasts for Bishop and Mammoth (for its altitude)
he didn't recall any trace of bishops lights when he camped up there,
but he wasn't in the big open area around the airstrip
He suggested the campground in the White Mountains might be a more
accessible site :/
