I slipped the 5 inch AP planetary through security by cleverly
disguising it as a 5 mm eyepiece weighing just a few ounces :^)

Seriously, I was pleased that on 4 different trips through airport
security I only had to pull out and explain the 8 inch SCT and
eyepieces one time. Whenever a security brow would start to furrow
at the X-ray scanner, I would instantly show a picture of the
telescope from official company literature. That and some cheerful
banter about going to see the Southern Cross was usually enough to
head off a detailed pawing through of bags, scope, and eyepieces.
