I did keep it off the donut. You can see that by all of the junk around the
donut (look at the after photo in full resolution). Had I covered the donut
I am pretty sure it would be a part of the removed film now.
I looked at the pictures. I the apparent color change is just differences in
lighting. I took the first 8" picture by flash. I took the center 8" picture
outside in shaded sunlight. I took the other shots using tungsten photo
lights and having the camera perform color correction.
It is strange stuff. I would not describe it as viscous. If you tilt the
surface it seems to rather freely flow. I described to another person that
it seemed to have a high surface tension. There were a number of spots
where I had to add liquid because it did not flow to cover them.
... or maybe I was careful and lucky.
When you apply the stuff it almost seems alive. It moves like something is
underneath it. Eventually it almost completely detaches from the surface.
In the middle picture of the 8" the drying film has folded back on itself in
an "S" shape. That is why you can't see the area that I did not cover.
