Volunteer gatekeepers don't have to be the observers themselves; they could
be family members, friends, etc........no observing time need be lost. There
could even be multiple gatekeepers on a given night, say a 1-to-2-hour shift
per person.....

A gatekeeper would be the ultimate solution. Getting volunteers to give up
prime observing time may be tough. I was mad enough by 10 PM to consider
borrow one of the Army's tanks.
