I don't think you need gate keepers. You need sawhorses across the
entrances sufficient to prvent someone from driving around. You need
LARGE signs on the sawhorses stating that there is NO ENTRY (keep the
language verrrrrrry simple).

Having worked arranging and managing star paties in the past, I can empathize.

I want to thank Rob for his efforts and sincere interest in improving
CalStar. It appears to be an easy job, but in practice, it can be
death by a thousand tiny cuts. Some "new blood" volunteering to help
Rob with tasks he feels could be assigned to "deputies" would be
wonderful.

Even with the few things that didn't work that well this year, I and I
think pretty much everyone else had a great time. The good people
running the event will improve it, perfecting it more each year.
