look for liquor stores that have the old style ice cooler outside. ask
them, keep trying.

or, grab the yellow pages, find the local ice company, call them, nicely
ask them if and where they regularlly deliver block ice...

I found some at a local supermarket last time I was icing down my
coolers for a road trip. YMMV. [I'm in Santa Cruz, and offhand I don't
recall which supermarket]
