Very Familiar with this place. I set up there for the leonids back in 2000
or 2001 awesome. You are right very dusty if windy. Access issues are
fine, they have kids that party up there at night and they run them off,
also there are alot of people who pray to the mountain that end up there at
night. You can check with the forest service they are located in Mt. Shasta
and let them know you are going to be there. Clouds can be a problem but it
also get's real cold up there. If I am up there for a weekend ( family
lives up there) and I want good southeast and north views I go out on the
Ski bowl highway. Light's from the ski park do light up to the north east
from Everrett memorial parking lot. Just a little history here, that
parking lot was is where the old ski park was, it was awesome skiing up
there fine powder and a good time. They had to close it as every couple of
years an avalanche would come down and wipe it out. The Indians claim the
place as sacred so I think the last time it happened they just gave up. You
can see the affects of the last big avalanche up there now notice all the
trees are gone?
