Please forgive my ignorance - I have not been able to find the comet Swan in my 10X50 binos. (Or maybe I did and didn't know it) Where is it with respect to M13? Above, below, left, right??? Still, it just jumped out, took me less than a minute to find it. Seems a bit larger than M13 and I think your mag estimate is about right. I was using 15x70 binocs and an ST-80. I did a quick tour for the neighbors along the same lines as JD the other night. Keystone of Hercules just visible. M13 looks like a dim galaxy slightly over one field of view above the comet. Comet is about 2 mags brighter, appearing like about a mag 12 galaxy on an average night at Coe. Slightly off center nucleus toward the west northwest. Easily swept up guessing at its position. If it is this obvious in the middle of this light pollution (very downtown) it should be a good binocular object from areas with even a bit darker skies. Initial feeling was a blue tint. -- - - - Lumpy Darkness - - - -- What TAC Is About. http://www.observers.org/Join.shtml WebCam, DSLR or CCD Imaging. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TAC-imaging/ Designing and improving TAC's website. http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/tac-ops/ Sub-scribe or Unsub-scribe from TAC http://seds.org/mailman/listinfo/sf-bay-tac -- What TAC Is About. http://www.observers.org/Join.shtml WebCam, DSLR or CCD Imaging. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TAC-imaging/ Designing and improving TAC's website. http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/tac-ops/ Sub-scribe or Unsub-scribe from TAC http://seds.org/mailman/listinfo/sf-bay-tac
