here's more of the quarry:

as to equipment, I used the same camera lens system I took with me to
Shingletown. I used the same setup for this summertime shot of the Milkway
in Sag etc:

it consists of my Finger Lakes IMG6303E camera, connected to Pentax Medium
format 35mm f/3.5 fisheye lens stopped down to f/8. The photos below show a
300mm lens connected, but they are interchangeable via the bayonet mount.

I use the FLI filter wheel and the FLI DF2 focuser connected in series for
filters and focusing and the big back focus distance of the medium format
lenses makes for a very easy mechanical design compared to the unwieldy
arrangements I have seen for use of 35mm lenses. The medium format lenses
also will support the new larger sized sensors that FLI, Apogee and Yankee
Robotics are now shipping. I hope to have one of the big format cameras in
my hands before too much longer and it will be interesting to see the even
larger FOV. At the moment with the "puny" 6303 sensor, I get 30 x 45
degrees!
All in all it makes for a nice way to do widefield imaging
