Hi Jaime,
Just read Bob Czerwinski's report from the Cook Islands. Man, the guy can write!
Makes me want to get going!
Turns out the AL has both a Southern Skies Telescope and Southern Skies Binocular list so along with the Southern Caldwell's this should keep me in astronomical heaven!! I know a lot of people poo-poo list but these lists contain all the major Megas!

My farthest trip south was to Huatulco at 16 north on the southern
tip of Mexico. Someone already said the other day that you're not
gonna see 47 Tuc from Costa Rica. In January, you're gonna see the
LMC transiting not long after sundown. The Tarantula is part of the
LMC. One of the things in the world I want most to see. The SMC is
much farther south, dunno if it shows from Costa Rica. Later at night
though, Carina and Crux and the southern parts of Centaurus will have
swung into view. Yes the Keyhole with eta Car in the middle of it.
The Southern Pleiades, IC 2602, oh the colors. Toward early morning
you can see Alpha Centauri come up. Watching that star come up out of
the ocean is something I will never forget.
Dennis, go get an atlas like the Edmund's Mag 6 and start looking and
fantasizing. Also ...
http://observers.org/reports/2003.11.21.html is Bob Czerwinski from
the Cook Islands.
In the TAC observing reports archives you have Steve Gottlieb and Rob
Hawley from the very place you're going.
Also there is the whole set of OR's Jay Freeman did from Mauna Kea,
also a fantastic read from probably the best writer on TAC.
Go ... go ... go read.
