That is likely just a little too high. On the other hand the Large Cloud
was setting at sunset in 2004. It should be visible for quite a while next
year.
I plan to work on some of the southern galaxy groups. While some of these
are technically visible from CA, they are really low in our sky.
The southern Milky Way will be up in the early morning. That is good since
the moon will start affecting the early evening objects by the end of the
trip.
