Southern Calwell objects

Slow day at work so having time to contemplate my late January trip to Costa Rica for the 2006 S&T Southern Skies Fiesta. Trying to come up with interesting objects visible in a 10 inch travel dob and I see that over 30 Caldwell objects are below -40 so would like try to bag all of them (except for one object that's -81). Will be a real challenge to bag the beautiful glob 47 Tucanae at 4 degrees above the horizon one hour before it sets with the Small Magellanic Cloud in early twilight! Thank goodness it's really bright! Spending a lot of time reading Stephan J. O'Meara's book on the Caldwell objects and getting excited! If anybody has had experience using the new 10 inch Johnsonian pop-up dob would like to hear their impression and any advice.

Thanks,

Dennis Beckley
