Good idea.

I think a Dob aimed low wouldn't have much of a problem.

Maybe a GEM should have the mount removed. Maybe even
the pier put over on its side.

If a quake happens while you are at the scope... enjoy the ride. ;-)

  since Parkfield and other areas nearby have been very seismically active, I wonder if anyone is considering any special preparations for Calstar? It seems very prudent to make sure you keep your vehicle's fuel tank topped off and have food and water so that you are completely self-sufficient for a few days.

  what else or is anyone thinking about this?
