FPOA newsletter February 2005 -

"Since the park administration has decided to close the park to amateur
astronomy at night, except for the FPOA, there has been a significant
increase in new FPOA memberships, along with "Observer's Class"
memberships. The influx of $60 per new member annually is a boon to the
FPOA, which can now afford a janitorial service to relieve the board of
"potty cleaning" duty, previously a major sticky point between the FPOA and
the California Department of Parks and Recreation (CDPR).

However, the influx of new observer class memberships has created excessive
demand for the limited FPOA "insured" area of the park. As a result the
CDPR is imposing a restriction of only 10 vehicles in the area at any one
time. With high demand and limited space, the FPOA will implement a new
method of allocating access.

Beginning March 2005, FPOA will conduct weekly E-Bay auctions for access to
its area at Fremont Peak. For further details or questions, contact the
FPOA board of directors at (831) 623-2465."
