Sean, I wouldn't call them *great* optically, but I don't think you'll get
much better without spending a lot more $$$.
I have two of the Orion 9x50s, one correct view and one a straight-through.
I like them OK, especially for the price (and I like the Orion easy-to-
adjust finder mount).
Since I tend to find stuff by doing something like Atlas->10x50 binos->
Telrad->finder, they work well for me - the field of view and brightness
are a pretty close match for my binos.
Also, finding stuff with the right angle finders is a pain unless you have
a reflex finder as well - I use a Rigel Quickfinder on my small scopes, and
a Telrad on my Nightsky 12.5". (Is there anyone in Dob land who doesn't use
a Telrad?)
