RESEND
TAC has new list owners.
Mark Wagner has been the inspiration and gentle guiding hand of the TAC
list since he started it six years ago. Since then, he and Steve
Sergeant, with a little help from others, has built TAC and its website
http://www.observers.org into a World Class amateur astronomy resource,
while still keeping a local SF Bay Area flavor. I think all of us can
agree that the sky would not be the same without his efforts.
To remind us what TAC is here's the only "official" statement of about
what TAC is
http://observers.org/AboutTAC.shtml :
" TAC was established to:
-- Facilitate active observational amateur astronomers observing
together.
-- Meet others "in the field" with similar interests and dedication.
-- Provide newcomers access to enthusiastic amateurs' equipment and
experience.
-- Do all of the above in dark sky settings where learning and enjoyment
are maximized. "
This is about as close as it gets to anything formal from TAC.
Mark has decided to pass on the weight of leadership of the TAC list to
others. Since no one person can possibly fill his shoes, it was decided
that two shall take over as co listowners, effective immediately.
Most of you know us: The James Brothers. Myself (aka Tips, for obscure
reasons) and Jamie Dillion (aka DDK).
Never fear. Our philosophy will be simple: Do nothing. We have no
intention of changing the way TAC was run by Mark. We will continue to
keep a "local favor" and a very light hand, no matter what our personal
issues are. For myself, as many of you know, there are a few topics that
come up, usually during Bright Moon cycles, that get out of hand.
Mostly, Jamie and I will resist the temptation to intervene. Mostly :-)
For now, Jamie and I would like to thank Mark for the years of selfless
energy he's put into this crazy group of dark sky iconoclasts. Thank you
Mark, thank you!
