Whacky Messier Monster Thead!

It must be political season? ;-)

My original posting about Mimi the Messier Monster getting booted from the
Peak was not intended to lead to a discussion about totalitarianism vs
libritarianism, Darwinism or any other politicalisms! It was intended to
be an *on topic* posting about astronomy at Fremont Peak, or, the current
administrations view that only certain types of astronomy, and as of
Monday, only by certain official groups, are allowed, and how people
unfamiliar with the ever changing and increasingly restrictive rules at
Fremont Peak are adversely affected.

I challenge anyone to find something official from the state specifying
what is or is not permitted in terms of astronomy at Fremont Peak - other
than the (now apparently unofficially defunct) nearly unknown
administrative order permitting astronomy at night (at one time, it was
briefly allowed only during the day!). Look on the state's web-site or
other official guides to state parks - the official sources. Camping *is*
permitted, at night... I guess what they intended was camping where park
rules don't allow looking at the sky at night?

Looks like the discussion has taken a turn off the astronomical highway to me!
