    Nope, mine is very dim and shielded with a red screen. The box is still
    a very helpful addition. The glow, even from a "red screened" laptop, can
    still be annoying.

    Now, if I am picture taking, I sometimes dont put the shield on but I set
    up away from others and make sure the screen isnt lighting up the place.
