The Mercury News Business section had an article today on a
long-standing project to build an amateur telescope with a 6 foot
diameter mirror. Sounds like the grinding and polishing is done
(after 16 years), but the group is largely out of money and would
need a lot more work and funds to get the mirror into a telescope
structure or observatory. This project has been mentioned a few
times before on TAC, and I think someone asked in the last year if
there were any updates on the current status of the project. See
