Hacienda elementary is having an astronomy/planetarium night October 2nd.
The school is near Almaden expressway and Hillsdale Av in San Jose (also
near 85 & 87). We expect over 100 people some to attend astronomy night and
we're trying to arrange for 10 telescopes to be there. The moon will be
between approx. 1st quarter. and set near midnight, sunset is about 7PM.
The telescope viewing will be from dark to 9:30. We're asking any parents
that have telescopes or binoculars to bring them.
At astronomy night we will also have a portable planetarium coming,
http://www.portableplanetarium.com/intro.html and Doug Brown of Fremont Peak
observatory will give a presentation on Mars. This event will also raise
funds for the science and the robotics program. There are 29 students
involved in LEGO robotics, and their project is Mars this year.
Please email wayne.$marquino$@$gene.$ge.com if you're interested in
attending this event. (remove the $ from email address). I advance notice,
because I need to comply a list of astronomers who attend.
Thanks.
