I have always assumed that fu isn't derived from the initials of
anything, but rather the fu as in Kung-fu. This flavor was used to
hilarious effect by Joe Bob Briggs in his movie reviews in the 1980s
and maybe early 90s. Talk about LOL! The Chronicle used to carry
them, but I haven't seen them recently. :(
