Hi, Michael.
I frequently do school star parties, both in the San Jose area and in the
Monterey Bay area. I live in Monterey and have done quite a number
of school star parties in this area over the years.
I might have one coming up in the next few weeks. I believe that it will
be held in Watsonville. If you're interested in helping out, let me know
and I'll put you on my list; and then I will notify you when that one (and
any future ones) is/are scheduled.
Clear skies! And thanx for the offer!
FYI, the first e-mail address below will be deactivated as of Jan 31st (I'm
retiring); if you contact me after that, use the second one.......in fact,
it's
probably better to use the second one in any case.
Jim .............. 8-)

Subject: [TAC] Community Service Opportunities
Hello all,
Just reposting my previous offer to participate in any public service
opportunities. Anyone who is involved with a school, scouting, a church,
youth astronomy group, science class, etc.. who knows of a group of kids (or
adults for that matter) that would like to have an astronomy activity please
feel free to contact me.
Like many of you, I enjoy those times when I can be alone under the stars or
in a park gazing at the activity on the sun. But I also enjoy the social
aspect of the star parties where we can make new friends, laugh with and
harrass old friends and learn from each other. And I also really enjoy
sharing the sky with those who have never really seen it before. Sharing
the sense of awe and wonder with someone seeing something awesome for the
first time is really fun. And kids are so full of questions and enthusiasm.
Anyway before I ramble on too much, this is just a repost of an offer to
participate and an invitation to anyone to contact me regarding an activity
or to just get together for day or night viewing and socializing.
I do want to thank those of you who have already contacted me and hopefully
we'll get some nice weather soon and actually be able to do something.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon,
Michael Swartz
