Several of us at Montebello last night (Jan. 5th) saw the M1-Saturn-Titan
grouping. The key was to put Saturn just out of the field of view. I saw
some yellowish diffraction and spillover light from Saturn and its rings,
Titan, and a distinctive white glow that was obviously M1 as it was centered
beyoud Titan and a different color from Saturn's light. I didn't use a
nebula filter.

I tried again tonight, nice clear skies, no sign of M1. Saturn is
way too bright. Sure enough the "glow" around sat is in the nebula
filter. I'll try again in another day or so, when there is a bit
more separation.
