a) TAC-AL is moving to the hilltops! Mike Turner posted an
interesting OR this week (q.v.) on receiving a fancy refractor. Doug
Forehand, another grizzled veteran of TAC-AL, showed up live and in
person on the Peak last night, on Ranger Row, in the company of, yes,
a mondo refractor.
b) Matthew Marcus was puzzling over NSOG's designation of the Egg
Nebula as a protoplanetary nebula. Now Matthew, you put a question
mark right there. Assuming you know the right answer, still for the
benefit of the reading public, it's no such thing. Definitely a
planetary.
c) Mark Wagner mentioned Struve 2816 in Cepheus, just the sort of
thing OR's are good for. I've had that triple noted on the charts to
go and see, time out of mind. Next out of the box, next observing
session. Terence Dickinson raves about it, mentioning a double,
Struve 2819, 10' away. Calls the field "a wonderful telescopic sight."
This is so the fun part. The dirty pictures, if you will.
