All:
We tried going to Coyote last night.
The drive down was not looking good at 9 pm. We didn't see Mars through the
clouds until we hit 85/101 interchange. Only after we turned off the
highway and up Roop did we finally see any stars. This was not a good sign.
When we got there, a few people were set up, a couple of families were in
the process of tearing down. A fellow that had a GOTO scope was able to
stay set up and was getting some decent views directly overhead. Since
Polaris was almost lost in the murk, we decided not to set up.
Views of the Milkyway directly overhead were pretty bad, since so much glow
from Gilroy was being reflected off the haze.
We left at about 11 pm.
We're going to try Coe tonight in the hopes of getting a little higher.
