Damn, Paul, I'm really impressed! I remember when I switched from my LX200
GOTO to the CI700 with mechanical setting circles and spending what seemed
to be FOREVER trying to find faint fuzzies with the help of a star chart.
The finder scope with the CM1400 system truly sucked and with that dreaded
CCD camera hanging on the back of the mighty 14 (with no flip mirror), I
simply had to rely on the finder. I found that my NV device afocal coupled
to the finder, helped a lot. Seemed to buy two or more magnitudes.
But wow, jumping to 107 Messiers with a DOB and nothing but star charts and
hopping seems like an amazing achievement to a guy that cut his teeth with a
GOTO system.
