I've always knew you were a GOTO guy, Paul. Richard didn't tell us anything new ;)
On a similar note, I just received word from the Anacortes folks that my little EM-10 mount, which I dearly love but had put up for sale for various reasons and then not sold, is capable of being upgraded to the Takahashi Temma GOTO system. The upgrade will be available 1/02. I'll probably keep it and upgrade it now, as the lack of GOTO for imaging was one of the reasons I was going to let it go.
I cut my teeth on star hopping. I've done 107 Messiers in one night on a dob with no DSCs and only a Telrad. I can find my way around the sky. That said, I dearly love GOTO systems, especially for imaging. Dark sky time is so limited, I'd just rather get to my target and get started imaging it without spending 20 minutes findind and centering it.
