Yes I am - with a variant <grin>. I began the _NSOG_ survey with my 12" SCT, just after the _NSOG_ became available. Kicked this off one night at Fremont Peak, observing with Nilesh Shah. Once I received my 14.5" Starmaster, this became the survey 'scope of choice. I'd select a constellation and start with the first deep-sky object listed. The variant: At the same time, I'd find the listed object on my laptop's _TheSky_ program, and see what else might be available for viewing in the general area. (I know a few others also use their laptops in this manner, mainly for galaxy hunting.) Turns out that a number of H400-I and -II objects can be hit this way, too, as well as a host of other non-Messier/Herschel items, mostly NGC and UGC galaxies for me. Of course, this *really* stretches out the survey, but allows me to hit a wide variety of objects. (Besides, I'm not in any hurry.) Certainly made me realize that aperture truly wins, and that there are a number of items th!
at require my 18" 'scope to see - well, at least with *my* eyes. I always have to keep those UHC/OIII filters handy, too.
Because of the way perform my surveys, I always find it necessary to cross-check other lists; a bit of a pain. I'll have to admit that I've put more focus on H400-I/II items now than I did six-months ago, but also pay attention to DeepMap items.
