Since you have a Powerbook, or any Macintosh, try the shareware GammaToggleFKEY to
set your gamma.
You can find it at http://www.acts.org/roland/thanks/ .
The program allows you to easily switch between 3 gamma settings, Mac gamma, PC
gamma and a saved gamma that you select.
The preset PC gamma setting shows close to perfect gradients on the page that Ray
recommended on my Powerbook Wallstreet II.
