Could someone on the List help this Walnut Creek area Park Ranger in
buying a telescope for public viewing? I'm so far behind the curve on
this stuff that I'm ashamed to show my ignorance? TIA.

Robert.

Hi Jody,
I have been mulling over the idea of seeking a donation from the O.S. =
Foundation or BRIA to purchase a telescope for public programs. Dan Cather =
thinks it will fly with them. I offer about 5 programs per year here and =
the Foundation does a combo hike/star gaze.
I don't know telescopes real well. I have a Bushnell back-yard style =
that's pretty good. Our astronomer-at-large, Wing Eng (the guy who brings =
his scope to Sugarloaf programs) has a very user friendly 8 inch Celestron =
that only costs about $400.
I was thinking that Robert knows telescopes. Could he possibly help us out =
with choosing a good scope? A user friendly scope, for public programs.
Thanks,
Moon Child From Sugarloaf
