I all ready have an 80mm f7, it is 20" long. I mounted
on my SCT and it is heavy. Nightmare to balance. The
90mm Mac is light ?LB, only 7" long, also it can take
160x power easy(I hear). My friend has the 80mm f/5
from Orion and gets lot of color, max 80-100 power.
Mac's has generly sharp optics, the cheaper 80 f/5-s
are mixbag, you may get a good one. Well, this is my
point of view, but I would like to know if somebody
owns or used one, since I only seen it in the
magazine.

Thank you Julius

If you are only using it as a finder (low power), an
achromatic
refractor shouldn't be a problem. What about the Orion
short tube
80mm or 90mm refractor?
