Yes, you may overcharge your battery by doing this. Just as you may
overcharge it using the little transformer things that come with most
"powerpacks". The danger with your car, is that you are very likely giving
it more current than comes out of your little transformer. So, potential
damage is almost unavoidable.

Dodge Caravan has had it for at least 3 years.
I've been told it is not safe to directly recharge gel cells from a car's
electrical system...it may be overvoltage part of the time. Anyone know
more?
