"The Peak" responds

I've worked with the park service as a docent. In Portola State park,
anything that is non native can be ripped out. In fact they have work
parties every year to destroy non native plants like trees, vincka, thistle,
palm grass, etc.

In addition, trees are cut as a matter of course in many cases. Trees very
close to roads or campsites are often cut if they pose any potential threat
of falling. Trees were cleared at Castle Rock recently when they decided to
make our astronomy site a heliopad.
