"The Peak" responds

I think your historical facts are correct, from what I have heard in the
past. I am relatively new to the Peak, beginning in the early 90's. The
fact that is not considered in your reply was the promise from the
previous ranger supervisor that things would stay the same or improve.
They have not.

I agree it is up to Ranger Bowers to allow or prohibit use of the area in
question. I can't and won't presume to tell him what to do. I would
think though that it is irrefutable that the utility of Fremont Peak for
astronomy is reduced when considering the trees and the lessened access.

My goal is to maximize my observing experience. If that means using the
Peak, I will. I think at this time that is not the case. If things
improve, I'll probably go back. Or, if the weather dictates that the Peak
will be the best choice, I'll go. The Peak is just no longer my first
choice.
