Moving to Berkely - where can I get my photon fix?

There are lots of opportunities and places to observe from Berkeley (I'm in
Oakland and there are lots of TACOS in the immediate area). Montebello is
1-hr away. Del Valle Reservoir is less than an hour (usually 40 minutes or
so). There is an East Bay TAC list that you can sign up for (contact Bruce
Jensen). The Mt. Diablo Astronomical Society meets twice a month on the
mountain (not real dark, but above average seeing). Lake Sonoma is 1 1/2
hours away. Halls Valley (near San Jose) is an hour to 1.5 hours away. Coe
is really no farther than Halls Valley (I consider it in reach if I'm
ambitious). The San Francisco Astro. Society meets each month on Mt. Tam,
but I've never gone there for observing. Each Fri. and Sat. night, people
set up scopes at the Chabot Observatory (not very dark but lots of company).
That activity usually involves members of the East Bay Astro. Society. Each
Sat. night, people set up scopes at the Lawrence Hall of Science as well.

Send me an email at rozer@No-Spam if you'd like to join me some time at
Diablo.
