When you say "for travelling", will it be for modest power
birding/nature study? High power, > 90x, astro observing?
Or both?
You can get the TV Pronto with 1 1/4" diagonal for a little
under $1000. The TV Ranger is, I believe, under $700.
The Orion ShortTube 80 works well and is about $200.
You can get a Celestron C5 spotting scope for about $600
from Eagle Optics. Their only limitation is ultra low power
viewing.
